Fishies, Leggings, Tears & Oreos

Boy did we just have an interesting weekend. We have been planning for a few months now to go to Chicago with my family and we were all very excited to go. Unfortunately, the weather decided not to cooperate so we headed into the "Windy City" on an extra cold and windy day. The first item on the agenda was a trip to the Shedd Aquarium. As we were walking up we couldn't believe the long line of people to get in I mean I knew the aquarium was popular but I couldn't believe it was that long. So, we decided to wait and over an hour later we finally got in the building. The first order of business when we got inside was to get a fresh diaper on Elle and this is when I got to have my first freak out moment as a mother. As I took off her diaper I saw it....a rash covering her from the top of her head down to the top of her legs. Oh my gosh what is wrong....I had no idea she hadn't been sick and all she gets is breastmilk and cereal so it couldn't be an allergy but then what was it. Well I started to panic and I sent my mom to get my sister (she's a nurse) and then I speed dialed the pediatrician. Well within about 15 minutes we had our answer. Elle had Rosiola which apparently is very common in babies but someone forgot to mention this to me haha if they had maybe it could of prevented the scene I made in the Shedd Aquarium bathroom. Anyway after this first tramatic event we finally got to enjoy the fishies and boy did Elle love every minute of it. I felt horrible every time we had to walk away from one of the tanks because Elle would stretch and twist to try and keep looking. Now my mom is telling me that we need to get Elle some fish........um I doubt it. Elle did convince her Daddy to buy her a cute little penguin and book from the gift shop though.

After the aquarium we headed to our hotel which was right off Michigan Avenue and it was definitely a great place to stay. We spent the rest of the evening going out for dinner and at an awesome restaurant and hanging out with the family back at our hotel. Elle loved looking out our windows at all the lights about as much as she loved the aquarium.

Sunday morning we woke up to a snow storm which was a bit disappointing considering we were all supposed to watch my mom and sister run the Shamrock Shuffle. Instead Robby stayed in the hotel and watched the race from our room while the rest of us tried to find Mom and Chels in the sea of 15,000 people.

On our way home we stopped at a Portillo's yummy. This is where every started laughing and when I looked at Elle to see why I discovered she was licking the table......not funny people come on. Oh well I guess a few germs never hurt anyone and Robby tried to assure me that the gray water they wash the tables with probably gets them pretty clean.

These are both views from our hotel. Robby and I were lucky enough to get a corner room so that meant twice the windows it was pretty great.

This was a Sea Dragon....our favorite thing at the aquarium.

Elle had to show off her new leg warmers I found for her...they are so darn cute!

Elle is 6 months old now and I still can't believe how fast she is growing. I tried to capture pictures of her first tear the other day. Unfortunatley it's hard to see the tear but the pictures sure turned out good.

Now that Elle is 6 months she is starting a few new foods. So far she has only had sweet potatoes and cereal but in a few days she is going to try peas. It seems now that she is starting to eat a few things she's really interested in food espcially anything I'm eating. Well today I was having a few oreos and Elle just begged me to hold one. Of course, it ended up in her mouth but only long enough for me to snap a few pictures.

Happy Sunday!!

So usually I'm not that excited about Sundays because I know that I have to go to work the next day but today I am excited because I have the next two days off to spend with my beautiful baby girl yay! This weekend has been a busy one but boy has it been fun! Of course we've been enjoying the beautiful weekend by visiting our local park and going for a few walks. We'll definitely be taking advantage of the nice weather for the next few days too! Today we were able to spend a little time with my family after church which was fun but the most fun part of the day was making Tutu's for Elle!! Right now I guess we only have one completed but there are soon to be many more. I'm planning on using one of the Tutu's for Elle's 6 month pictures but I'm not sure which one yet because they are all going to be so super cute.

It was a little difficult trying to get pics of Elle in her Tutu because she just loved playing with it so I kept trying to push the layers down but by the time I was ready to take the pic she had it all puffed up again.

I'm going to try and get some good pics of Elle in her new BOB Revolution stroller this week since we'll be trying it out for the first time yay I can't wait!!

About Time

So I know what you're all thinking right now "Well it's about time she finally updated her blog" haha I know I know I used this excuse last time but we really are pretty busy busy people. Elle is such a good nighttime sleeper that she really doesn't feel the need to nap much during the day but that makes for not much free time for mommy and daddy. When I do get a free moment I'm usually running around trying to pick up the house, do laundry or maybe if I'm really lucky I get to take a quick shower. Something that has helped a lot though has been the recent addition of Elle's playroom. We decided to change our basement rec room into a playroom instead since we never actually used it for a rec room. Now a majority of Elle's toys are in this room including a tv and my treadmill so yay yay yay I actually get to workout again now. It didn't take much to make Elle's playroom although I'm still looking for storage/shelving but we sure had to move a lot of stuff around. Since we got rid of the rec room that meant we had to move the computer, futon and basically just other junk into our extra bedroom. Robby joked that our main computer has now been in every room of our house and seriously it has been but I promised him that is where it's going to stay until we find our new house!! The most exciting part of the new playroom is the new alphabet/numbers play mat that I found online. It took us a little while to put the thing together because it was basically a huge puzzle but once it was together we sat Elle right in the middle of it and I couldn't have been more thrilled with her response.

I think Elle may have been a little overwhelmed with the mat at first because it was so bright and busy but she quickly fell in love and was kicking her feet and squealing in delight.

Elle even liked feeling all the textures and patterns on each of the different pieces of the mat.

This next pic is to show all of you what happens a lot of times when Robby is in charge. I was in the kitchen making dinner and I thought Robby and Elle were playing but suddenly things got very quiet and I wondered what they were up to. Of course not at all to my surprise they were both very interested in something on the tv. I swear if there is a tv in Elle's sight range she is going to find it. Trust me I'm not a bad mother I don't just sit her in front of the tv for entertainment but during the day she does like to watch a little tv from time to time while we're playing and like I said in my last post her favorite thing to watch is still her sea animals and classical music dvd. Elle has also started watching Veggie Tales with Grammy Kim sometimes but she usually gets bored of that after 10 minutes or so.

As usual I'll leave you with a few new pics of Elle. I promise I'll try and post a little more often but get ready cause when it gets nice out it will be hard to trap me inside with a computer. I can't wait for Elle and I to go on long walks and since we're so close to a park you'll probably find us there a lot as well.
